Geostatistical Depth Conversion

Our geostatistical depth conversion toolkit is designed to condition velocity data for the purpose of accurate depth conversion.

The workflow is relevant for a single survey or for building regional, basin-wide models using numerous 2D and 3D surveys as input. The latter comprises a comprehensive workflow including the reconciliation of misties arising at both line intersections within individual 2D surveys and between overlapping surveys (both 2D and 3D).

Geostatistical scaling is used to tie the available well control.  This utilises well data and geophysically constrained statistics to derive a stable, geologically plausible background trend which accounts for the majority of error . The result is a consistent model that ties the available well control and provides reliable depth conversion away from wells.
