This paper describes how we predicted three successful exploration wells after four dry holes had been drilled in the block. The results of a comprehensive quantitative interpretation workflow gave the confidence to drill what was perceived as a high-risk, down-dip prospect. As the integrated inversion and rock physics study predicted, the AVA anomaly was a gas-filled sand. More than ten subsequent wells were predicted accurately and a full-field development is now underway. A clear success story.

Inversion and seismic reservoir characterisation provided confidence to drill down-dip of a dry well – the first of around a dozen successful new discovery and appraisal wells in this block.
